Sixth graders attend computer class weekly. In sixth grade the students are moving into middle school topics – such as fundamentals of computer use, online research, ethical issues related to Internet use, video editing, and web site creation. They will also be able to build upon the coding lessons they learned in 5th grade.
Standards Based Lessons
Computer lessons are planned based on the national standard (ISTE).
The goal of the technology curriculum at St. Christopher's school is to reinforce classroom learning, while increasing technology skills. In sixth grade, there is less dependence on online educational games than in the lower primary grades. Instead, the students get practical experience typing, creating presentations and using excel. We discuss online safety and ethics. The students get a introduction to video editing, website design and coding. Keyboarding is an integral part of the curriculum.
They will be learning about Excel and doing a lab experiment.
